What is a Content Creator?

what is a content creator

Content creation are two words that have been floating around a lot recently. It is the new desired profession and a great medium of expression. So technically, what is a content creator? For many, content creation offers the potential for a less strenuous method of building a digital social network, a way to express their thoughts and ideologies, a route to celebritydom.

Being a content creator is all about creating pieces of digital content to publish on social media platforms with the intention of engaging with audiences via likes, shares, comments, etc. Pushing the definition even further, content creation is also about building relationships with content consumers to create a base audience that consistently engages with a specific type of content.

What is Considered Content?

The content that creators put out can be anything from personal photos, art/photography, writing, short thoughts, audio recordings, videos, recipes, etc. If you can create it and find a way to publish it, then it has the potential to gather an audience, and boom you’re a content creator. A few examples of the major platforms that many content creators see success on are Instagram, YouTube, blogs, Twitter, podcasts, Facebook, and many more: new apps are always popping up and offer content creators yet another platform to interact with their audiences and to reach an even larger audience.

In the realm of content creation there is something for everyone and there is space for everyone.

What Makes Someone a Content Creator?

Anyone can become a content creator, but this isn’t to say it is for everyone. Some may think that content creation is as simple as snapping a picture or writing a tweet and hitting publish, but there is actually a lot of thought and effort that goes into each post. The key to content creation is consistency, many content creators create and stick to a content schedule that often involves hours invested into both the ideas behind the content, the actual content creation, and the editing process. It is certainly not an overnight process (at least most times) and building a relationship with an audience and gaining consistent engagement is a long and difficult process that requires a lot of patience, dedication, and consistency.

What is Considered Quality Content?

A couple great indicators of a quality content creator are, of course, great engagement rates, a consistent type of content, and a consistent posting schedule. Brands looking to have creators represent their brand, along with the aforementioned indicators, should look for niches that fit their product/message and reach out to creators that occupy those niches. This goes both ways too; creators looking to become more successful, in addition to creating consistent, engaging content, should find and stick to a niche that they enjoy making content to fit.

Content creators are an integral part of today’s social media driven society. To be one is a much sought after position and to be partnered with them can be a really beneficial asset to brands.
